Punch is a seven-month-old macaque born at Ichikawa City Zoo in Japan. He was abandoned by his mother — likely due to inexperience and the intense summer heat, according to zookeepers.

What happened next touched hearts around the world.

Zookeepers gave Punch a plush orangutan to help him cope with loneliness. He began carrying it everywhere — cuddling it, playing with it, holding onto it for comfort. The photos and videos went viral because you could feel it… that simple act of love mattered.

His story is about belonging.
